Days 1-2SamosThis tiny island is packed with tropical flowers, pretty beaches, archaeological sites and cool villages. Mountain and coastal walks abound for nature lovers, or discover one of the seven wonders of the ancient world here, the Sanctuary of Hera. It's possible to head underground to explore the 1034 metre long Evpalinos Tunnel, a remarkable feat of engineering from 524 BC.
Days 3-4PatmosAn historic place of pilgrimage, modern Patmos has something for everyone. Take a walk along the Byzantine path to explore the Monastery of St John the Theologian and Monastery of the Apocalypse perhaps, relax with a book in the sun or indulge in fresh seafood and Greek specialties in a small taverna.
Days 5-6KosPalms, pines, oleander and hibiscus provide a lush backdrop to the New Town, and Hellenistic and Roman ruins are strewn throughout. Look out for the old Castle of the Knights at the port. There is a good archaeological museum and many ancient sites to visit throughout the island, such as Asklipieion where there is a wonderful view - of Turkey.
Days 7-8RhodesSunny Rhodes is absolutely gorgeous. The Old Town is the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe and its mighty fortifications are the finest surviving examples of the defensive architecture of the time. Near the town the swimming is great - head to Kalithea Thermi to swim in an elgant, if somewhat crumbly, Italian spa complex. Rhodes is also home to many bars that buzz with locals in the summer months.
